A DISCUSSION WITH Jim Jennings
THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 10th, 2004 NEVADA MUSEUM OF ART

“As a California architect, I have a deeply embedded connection to the geometries of landscape and to the abstract and variable qualities of light. The forms of my buildings respond to both: they are at one with the land and serve as receptive containers of natural light.
Design always begins with the site, and with the clues and conditions that are found there. Each physical circumstance will suggest its own potential for a particular expression of scale, space and material. I believe a building must be rational, as well as poetic. It must reveal its internal logic by giving a true sense of its structure.
Founded in 1975, my practice is known for the coolly sensuous rigor of our designs. The office is run as a studio where I am intimately involved with each project throughout the process, and where the sole purpose is the making of timeless architecture.”
